Where to watch Sydney’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Find the best seats in the house for one of the most iconic New Year’s Eve firework displays across the world! This year, many spots that were previously ticketed are now free for the public!


We’ve listed some of the best spots where watch Sydney’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks.

 

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Free

Set up your picnic rug at one of four free vantage points and enjoy views of the Sydney Harbour fireworks from the Botanic Gardens. All viewing sites will have food and beverage outlets including bar services and water refill stations. The viewing points are:

  • Mrs Macquarie’s Point and Fleet Steps: entry via Mrs Macquaries Road 

  • Tarpeian Lawn and Bennelong Lawn: entry via Macquarie Street 

 

Barangaroo Reserve

Free

Barangaroo's spectacular harbourside location is ideal for families, friends and couples wanting to experience a safe and memorable night enjoying panoramic views of the fireworks and western face of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There will be food and alcohol available for purchase. BYO Alcohol is not prohibited here.

 

The Rocks

Free

The Rocks has plenty of amazing viewing spots along it including Dawes Point Park, Campbells Cove, West Circular Quay, and East Circular Quay. restaurants and bars in the areas are joining the excitement by offering exclusive deals and offers throughout the evening!

 

Darling Harbour

Free

Celebrate Sydney New Year’s Eve at Darling Harbour with free 9pm and midnight fireworks at Cockle Bay. Darling Harbour is the family friendly place to ring in the new year.

 

Illoura Reserve

Free

A very popular site with stunning views of the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This spot in Balmain East allows BYO food and alcohol, and had toilets and water stations so it’s a great spot to bring your family or mates, enjoy a picnic and watch the magic.

 

Bradfield Park & Mary Booth Reserve

Free

A popular location on the North side of the bridge that offers large open spaces and views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. It is also easily accessible with public transport and offers both food for sale and the option to bring your own alcohol and food.

 

Lavender Bay Parklands

Free

Comprising Clark, Quibaree and Watts Parks, this precinct offers excellent views of the western side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Entry is via Harbourview Crescent and this vantage point offers both food for sale and the option to bring your own alcohol and food.

 

Hickson Road Reserve

Free

Enjoy unobstructed views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House at Hickson Road Reserve. This popular spot offers panoramic views of the entire harbor, making it an ideal location to watch the fireworks. Best of all, entry is free this year!

 

Observatory Hill Park

Free

Close proximity to the fireworks and a good view of western side of Sydney Harbour Bridge. The steep grassy hills is a great spot to set up a picnic and get a top side view of the fireworks. BYO Food and Alcohol is prohibited here and there will also be food available to purchase.

 

McKell Park

Free

This small open foreshore location in Darling Point is a hidden gem with open views of the of the city and Sydney Harbour Bridge. BYO Alcohol and Food and permitted here too.

Bicentennial Park

 

North Head, Manly

Free

At North Head, catch stunning fireworks views overlooking Manly. Positioned 1.8 km from the entrance gate, this vantage point ensures a clear, stress-free experience without the hassle of navigating through crowds or dealing with the public transport rush after.

 

Sydney Opera House
